NAIFA-California has received official word that the 2006 Life Insurance Awareness Month proclamation, sponsored by us, will indeed be signed by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.  The proclamation has been sent to their Executive Writers, and we anticipate it will be completed by August 31.

Governor Schwarzenegger Signs Proclamation declaring September as Life Insurance Awareness Month

A big Thank You to Shari McHugh and her staff, along with GRC Chair Mike Ables for their strong efforts to make this happen.

LIAM is truly one of our best marketing opportunities of the year.  By shining a bright light on the true benefits of life insurance, LIAM creates value for our Association to members as well as prospective members.

Locals please consider doing one or more of these things in your campaign.  Your members and your customers will benefit greatly.

The first is an article that can be submitted to your local newspaper, highlighting the importance of life insurance.  It can come from you or anyone on your Board.  The key is to provide details on the importance of life insurance from a agent/consumer prospective, NOT the Company.  This will be much more powerful.

The second and third items are samples of what NAIFA-Santa Barbara was able to do.  They had their City Council acknowledge LIAM with a Proclamation.  The subsequent press coverage was excellent.  They also did a co-op ad with their members and a local sponsor, making it a win-win situation.

On September 1, the industry will come together for the third time to observe Life Insurance Awareness Month.  This is an opportunity for the industry to act collectively to make sure all Americans are reminded of the importance of including life insurance in their financial plans.

It's also a time for action.  Tens of millions of Americans lack the life insurance coverage they need to ensure a secure financial future for their loved ones.  When September rolls around, you can do something about the growing "crisis of underinsurance" by talking to people in your community about their life insurance needs.
