NAIFA Election Report

There were five trustees elected to the NAIFA National Board this year.  As they were unopposed, there was very little campaigning, although our members got to know each candidate in their suites and in private meetings.  The elected trustees are:

Byron Holz, CLU, ChFC, LUTCF, CASL from Florida

Booker Joseph, CLU, ChFC, FLMI from Alabama

Cammie Scott, MSIE, ChFC, CLTC, LUTCF, REBC, RHU, SHRM-SCP, SPHR from Arkansas

Aprilyn Chavez-Geissler from New Mexico

Todd Grantham, CFP, CLU, ChFC, MSFS, CASL from North Carolina

There are also two new trustees who will be serving on the NAIFA Board.  Appointed by President Jules Gaudreau are Van Mueller of Wisconsin and our very own TOM MICHEL of California!  Tom and Van will serve one-year terms starting immediately.

Running unopposed for Secretary was Keith Gillies, CFP, MBA from Louisiana.

Also voted on by the National Council was an amendment to the by-laws brought forth by the NAIFA Governance committee.  It needed a two-thirds majority to pass and passed with 79 percent of the votes.  This amendment mandates a slate of officers put forward by the nominations committee (similar to California).  Although there will be a vetted slate of recommended Trustees and Secretary, it does not preclude other interested parties from running from the floor.

The NAIFA Annual Meeting for 2016 will be September 17-19 in Las Vegas…see you there!
