Having just returned from the NAIFA Convention in New Orleans, I am amazed at how I can be exhausted and energized all at the same time.  The entire experience representing NAIFA-California as your President was an incredible thrill and something I will never forget. All of the California attendees did an amazing job of representing our state through their actions as delegates and activities throughout the convention and the beautiful city of New Orleans. Although there were a multitude of valuable and memorable events, here are a few that stood out…

Both Eszylfie Taylor and Ryan Pinney were praised as two of this year’s “Four under Forty” advisors, representing some of the best NAIFA Young Advisors across the nation. We are incredibly proud to have these two gentlemen representing California and to have two of the four recipients come from our great state is truly a feather in our cap. Eszylfie was also one of the breakout speakers at the event, sharing ideas to Young Advisors on not only how to survive, but how to thrive in our ever-changing industry.

Tom Michel, our past state president and national committeeperson, was appointed as a NAIFA Trustee. This is an incredible honor and a testament to the value that Tom brings to NAIFA. Tom  and Van Mueller (a longtime friend of NAIFA-California) will both serve a one year term as appointees. I can tell you that there is much excitement nationally that Tom is on the Board. His enthusiasm and outside-the-box thinking are exactly what NAIFA needs.

Not only is NAIFA-California the largest state in the Federation, but we also were the only large state to have 100 percent PAC Participation at this year’s conference. Every attendee at the conference made a PAC contribution of at least $125 in honor of NAIFA’s 125th anniversary.  This was a great feat and all who attended should be commended for their continued generous support.

Breakouts, networking and fun—I have never seen a lineup filled with more actionable sales ideas and opportunities to learn from our peers such as what was presented in New Orleans. Whether you sell life, multi-line, health or securities, there was opportunity for you to pick up ideas to help you grow your practice. If you were in attendance, you know what I am talking about. If you couldn’t make it, do not miss next year’s event!

The 2016 NAIFA National convention will be Sept. 17-19 in Las Vegas, which affords each NAIFA member a great opportunity to attend and receive the value that is imparted at this once a year event. Start making your plans today!
